Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I’m pretty sure most of you have better things to do than to go hunting for setups today. So I decided to post a long term update on some our key markets instead. Let’s start with the S&P 500 and then I’ll cover gold, bonds, crude, and the Euro.
I sometimes wonder what all the bitching is about. Have you seen a more bullish chart then this one? If you simply fade out all the noise – the chatter, the dire predictions, the rumors, the Fed stories, etc. then this chart is all you really need to know about equities. The Fed keeps printing and equities keep bubbling higher. Will it end next year? The hell I know [...]
In yesterday afternoon’s post we covered some of the logistic of our ongoing YM campaign. If you missed it then I strongly recommend you go back to read it as it covers a real world example of how to plan, enter, and manage a trade based on Ivan’s ProtectR rules. Nothing beats teaching by real world example in my book.
Now if you paid attention then you are aware that one of our ProtectR rules stipulated that we need to earn 1R by the end of the third candle – which incidentally includes the entry candle as well. Today is the day and as it does not appear as if the YM is going to claw its way up to 16,143 (1R measured from our 15,986 entry) [...]

As usual keep in mind that these are short term setups although they could be used as early entries for more longer term positions.
The spoos are still trading below the 25-hour SMA – I’m also seeing a diagonal resistance line slightly above it. Finally the ST bollinger is compressing and I sense we’ve got a big move coming. Thus I want to be long above the diagonal and short below the SMA – triggers on the chart.
Things are a bit more flat on the [...]
I don’t have much to report on the equities front – apparently we’re scheduled for a sideways session with slight bias to the upside. It doesn’t look as if our YM trade is going to make it to 1R today (see previous post), so that gives us until tomorrow EOS to reach that point. Should we fail to get there we will be closing this campaign out – per Ivan’s ProtectR rule set. More details on that tomorrow as things unfold.
The subs got an early long entry on the AUD/CAD on Friday and I think that one is still a good play today. Our stop is below the 100-day SMA which is currently around 0.965. The general idea here is that the [...]
