Riding The Swan

I just got word from my pal over at -273 who unexpectedly had some kind of creative epiphany which he channeled into the following t-shirt design:

Frankly – and I’m not saying this to pimp my own shop – this is one of the coolest shirts I have ever seen. I’m still laughing looking at this silly thing – it’s so dastardly obnoxious as the sheer notion of riding a black swan event borders the sacrilegious. In other words – this shirt uniquely captures the essence of Evil Speculator – it’s perfect.

I told those guys to keep the price low after some of you rats balked at v.1.0 and its price tag. However I decided to go with the higher quality American Apparel shirts and to keep things affordable to stick to one color only – black on white – simple and clean. I should probably know the price point in a few days, will let you guys know as soon as I hear back. Just so you know – I most likely won’t be making much money on this shirt – it’ll be a donation to the community and the majority of the profits for the first edition will go to -273.

Hope my stainless steel rats approve of this design – I for one think it’s hilarious :-)

Something for all you there folks looking for updates. Check this out Joe!

You can have Mole's shirt but I hold on to mine....
  • bubble jeopardy
Joe must have taken the blue pill because the real world is drastically different. No mention was made of government interference whether it is interest rates or regulation. If ALL businesses competed without subsidies and corporate welfare we would be much closer to real free markets. However, the elites that run this world don't want any competition, only the illusion of competition whether it is banks, drug companies, automakers, etc.

  • bubble jeopardy
China is the "model state", ask the UN, they said so. It's a blending of soviet style communism with the facade of market competition. It's what the "cold war" was really about, not nuclear weapons. The elites that run this world will never allow true free market competition because they will not yield power, they only consolidate power and have been doing so for a very long time. The government is run by non governmental organizations through numerous well funded foundations which instruct their political puppets as to the agenda that is to be pursued, e.g. "global warming" or the new name since there is no global warming, climate change.
  • most importantly, it WAS really easy to be a king of the hill when there WAS only ONE hill and one wannabee king.
America - get over it, wake up and kiss your hill goodbye
  • bubble jeopardy
I agree, but not because we had some special ability to work our way to the top of the hill. Our "success" was planned, coordinated, and currently in the process of being dismantled just like many other "empires" throughout history. The long line of ancestral elites that have interbred and run the world have been building and tearing down civilizations for thousands of years and have made an enormous profit while doing it.

Hey all. I was wondering if any of you has examples of professional technical analysis research reports, similar to Mary Anne Bartels at BofA/ML (Ie: https://www.fs.ml.com/publish/weekly_pdfs/MarketAnalysisComment.pdf )

They do not have to be current - i'm simply looking for examples. Thanks.

So if gold is the ultimate short on all currencies, and this is a inflationary collapse (what else can they do? Print money), then crazy made up shit like this: buy the rumor, but you best be in physical or better when this becomes 'news':

mole, -273, shirt made me smile from ear-to-ear, haven't had this feeling in a long while since seen the two green la crocodiles on top of each other, would be cool to put the year in production, so we can always look back and rave about it

Mole - I'll buy two of them. Get it done - I'm good for it. If you need orders in advance, contact me. In fact, by the time you have them ready, I suspect the market will be deep in the shitter (late Jan/Feb). Contrast that to the non-stop rally the last time you offered the shirts. I know I might be eating my words in a few months but this shit just can't go on and I believe a collapse or at least a correction is close at hand. I think Hochberg's shortest line was "Fuck ME"
  • Have any of you pondered about the fact that nearly everyone now criticizes/ridicules/doubts Hochberg? What does that tell you? What usually happens when everyone believes the market is going in a particular direction? Some weekend exercise for you guys - I know Prechter/Hochberg bashing has become fashionable now but I hoped you guys were smarter than that.

  • Awesome design.. I'm laughing my ass off at it as well. Personally I don't like white shirts -- I'd suggest a light gray or tan, but I'll get one either way! =D
  • Yeah, you might be right about the white - gray might be better.
  • With all the bullish BS flying around during the downturn, a light gray will hide the dirt better.

(probably butchered my article/adjective endings... never was able to get a good grip on that part)

  • gutes Wochenende - the adjective changes according to the gender of the substantive.
  • FTO, note to self, this is probably the last time I ever see FTO at $12—
If I’m just now realizing this, that means 100’s of millions of $$$, are also realizing this.
So the next price channel is probably $14 to $17, for awhile, after it gets there. ( maybe in DEC, or JAN.)

    shorts covering.
  • Of course - doesn't take much to scare them these days - LOL :-)
  • kryxtal
These days, it seems like the bears are only hurting themselves. At the slightest dip, they cover and take profits, forcing other shorts to cover and invariably a squeeze develops. Plus, everyone always says "I'll wait until xxxx to start shorting," and then that becomes "I'll wait until xxxx+20 to start shorting," and so forth.

After all, with volume this low these days, and after a 60% run up in like 9 months, no bull in their right mind would think NOW of all times is the time to go long. Instead, most of the melt ups are most likely the result of failed shorts covering and pushing the market slowly higher. Of course, it's only a matter of time before there is no one left who is willing to cover.

  • bsummertime
that shirt is priceless! limited edition only. mark the price up!
  • MadDogLV
Forget the black swan theme. It should be more like your evil character ass raping a bull. Now that would be funny.
  • nobody assramps bulls around here, they do it to themselves (though anatomicaly problematic) by playing the ramp markets to infinity and discover ex post where it should fall
  • MadDogLV
Exactly my point. Every time they ramp it I get more puts. When it comes crashing down their ass will feel as if Mr evil had a party in there.
  • in the meantime it's not their ass taking it san francisco style

I'm waiting for a correction, short term, but not sure the party's over... might be a B.
  • MadDogLV
My ass can last a lot longer than they think, I just hope my puts don't expire before then.
  • as you wish, mine is in a rodent, pardon, in a rotten state

  • That would be fun but inaccurate. At some point we will be bulls again - probably the moment when everyone else has turned into a bear ;-)
  • I already bought my bull leather miniskirt for the 36 vix, it should present a "bull pride" week ( afterwards I don't see much bull fun before vix 90's)
  • Me_XMan

  • Mole, if you dont change the design to incorporate your signature "evil mole", can I have mine hand signed?
  • How about I just wipe my butt with it? The ultimate way of personalization...
  • weasel_whisperer
No, keep it a black swan (i.e. black swan event). I've never heard of a brown swan event...
  • centerline
The brown swan event happened for me on that last run up when I forgot to hedge positions properly!
  • sweet mole, always a kind word and going the extra mile

... but that's overkill, don't want others to be jealous
  • Maybe black on the dark red too like at the top of the page? Dunno if that's more expensive or not.
  • Yes - too expensive - most folks don't want to pay $50 for a t-shirt. Need to keep it low cost and simple.
  • ClutchShorter
Nice shirt - maybe in the back, put a chart of SPX crashing last year =)
  • Gold_Gerb
  • minus273
yup, still love ZH, but that was the Theta version. We were going to do it as a purely -273 shirt after ZH didnt want to roll with it, but the Evil version made us laugh so much we had to do it. This is the Iota ES version.
  • It's ace. I'll definitely have one.

    Bit of friday fun...

Have spent all today tarting around with the DJIA great channel and here are the utterly unscientific results.

Wait and see what happens but I'm not overly convinced about the impulsiveness of the drop we've seen so far, purely looks-wise.

So, if it turns out this isn't it, then and if my totally subjective studies (and perhaps unconventional use of a fib fan) are anything to go by and we do get one more new high after this then keep this in mind.

    last few years: http://screencast.com/t/NDMyZTcxZmQt
where that next channel line comes from: http://screencast.com/t/NzQxZjMyMmI (bit hard to see all the hits from this century plus view, but you get the picture)

sidenote - this channel is much less bearish than prechter's - only gives the bottom as somewhere shy of DOW 2k (and rising) - lol - but it does seem a very nice fit for the fractal. when you look at this thing in detail, it's just mental how we can stay bouncing around inside the same set of parallel lines for over a century..
  • raised_by_wolves
Ultra, thank you for posting your version of the Great Channel.

On this long of a time scale, I'm questioning whether I had my orange line drawn precisely—perhaps or perhaps not. I will revisit and possibly refine my Great Channel this weekend.

I see that you have three parallel lines close together. The bottom looks like my purple one, and the middle looks like my orange one. While I do not yet have that top one drawn on my hundred-years chart, I have something close to it drawn on a 30 day / 30 minute chart.

My current thinking is that this is a zone on the Great Channel. A breakout either up or down has yet to occur.

    http://screencast.com/t/ZTk4ZmY4MDAt
  • slightly different take on 1930 - everyone says wave 2 retraced 52% or something like that, right? whole thing looks more like a huge abc anyway when you have a good look at it.

    http://screencast.com/t/OWY3MWZjZD

/edit - and look how those fibs resonated out even as far as the 70s - who knows, they may be back in play in years to come - http://screencast.com/t/OGRmNGY5

//edit 2 - and oh my lordy lord look where it hits if we apply the same thinking to the present - http://screencast.com/t/N2MyNGVkZ

    / out
  • Hey wolves, yeah looks like we are the great channel enthusiasts around here (whatever happened to the originator, SSC?). Anyway, glad I finally got around to charting this badboy as it is a little bit mindblowing. What was it Gann said, if you want to see the future then look into the past? Or something like that.

There was good reason to look for another parallel at that level based on where all the other ones were pointing (and there is another reason to look in this area, but it is proprietary and copyright *wink*)... but if you look back there are quite a few touches back along the way, firstly back in the 90s and then much, muuuuuch further back - with not a few of them in the 20s...

As to where that leads us - just have to wait and see.

Meanwhile - have a look at this mf - http://screencast.com/t/MzQwOTI3Y

Talk about fractal similarity - and guess which 3 close lines those are...

Some may not be aware of a handy spread finder etc... on yahoo finance. It uses the optionetics platform. You can only search the basic trades, but it's free where the optionetics site charges. It does alot of leg work for you, and if anything is a great starting point to get your perfect trade. It's way more intuitive that the pos interactive brokers option platform. Check it out.
