Wicked Wednesday E-Mini Video Wrap Up

by The MoleFebruary 19, 2014

Enjoy a re-run of today’s E-Mini session exhibiting participation as measured by our Zero indicator. On the left side is the hourly panel and the Zero Lite runs on the right via the 5-min panel. Swing traders and scalpers are encouraged to watch the 5-min panel for early clues – in particular price/signal divergences and lack of participation as expressed by a flat signal. If you like what you see then may want to watch some earlier ones – you will find plenty of examples of what to look out for and how to avoid common traps when trading the E-Mini. Plus you may enjoy the tunes 😉

Very educational session and not an easy one given that we had an FOMC announcement. All in all a low participation day and the signal remained unconvincing all day, never once breaching the 0.5 mark. In the end gravity set in as weekly resistance could not be overcome and anyone left holding long decided that eleven consecutive higher highs ought to be good enough for now.

The future is now – so don’t bring a knife to a raygun fight. If you are interested in becoming a Zero subscriber then don’t waste time and sign up here. A Zero subscription comes with full access to all Gold posts, so you actually get double the bang for your buck.

Cheers,

Staircase to heaven? More like elevator Ivan….

  • newbfxtrader

Anyone want an example of a leptokurtic move save the coffee chart….

  • DollarChaser

hey mole, say i was following crazy ivan or heisenberg campaign flow where we take action at certain R increments, if i risk 1/2 an R instead of a full R on a campaign should i then move my stop around when the campaign produces half of what you suggest in the rules.

for example, at 1.2R we cut back to 75% position size, if i was risking 1/2R on a trade would i then cut back to 75% position size at .6R?
im guessing we do (thats what ive been doing) but id love a bit of conformation on this. thanks!

  • newbfxtrader

    Anyone take it?

  • Bun Dance Kid

10 days in a row to get up, how many to get back down, I wonder?

  • Sean

Not sure why /ES decided to shit the bed tonight, but papa likey… now let’s see how the 200h sma does (tagged twice now, to the tick)…

  • Bun Dance Kid

Yep, I was meant to be in bed 3 hours ago…

When you look at a movement before it becomes bleedingly obvious is the time to become ‘excited’ … chart below.

  • newbfxtrader

    Bad China data.

  • phylum

    There’s your confirmation….

  • newbfxtrader

The charts were already telling us the print would be bad…

  • newbfxtrader

Nice. Easy for you to say 🙂

So we don’t like the numbers they made up this month? … whatever, God bless ’em, banked a full R and closed out… think this move might be over since /DX is not playing along, but setting a sell order a few ticks below the 200h sma with a trailing stop just in case… either way, I’m done waste brain power on it tonight.

  • newbfxtrader

Funnymentals. Dont lose sleep over the news. The setups worked anyway. It kind of told me the data would be bad. Look at my posts. Gbp/nzd long, nzd/usd short, aud/usd short and so on. If it wasnt then just use the bounce to get a better entry in the direction of the trend.

    let’s see – a 9R with a resultant 10% account increase.
a 1.1% position. I knew this math would payoff someday.

  • Darkthirty

    And the moon

  • http://dartht.blogspot.com/ Gold_Gerb

true, but looking at the chart..

    I’m seeing about a 50% success rate 7/14.

    http://astrocycle.net/SC/SPX_Moon.png

    EDIT: maybe 8/13 or 61.5%

  • Darkthirty

    full or new?

  • http://dartht.blogspot.com/ Gold_Gerb

    both.

  • Darkthirty

    Hmmmm 50% + 50% =

  • http://dartht.blogspot.com/ Gold_Gerb

I’m not knocking it. if chicken bones work, I’m in.

but approaching from a Quant perspective and odds maker is my next thing.

  • Darkthirty

I hear ya on the chicking bones….. I pay attention to many things, just throw that out to see if anyone pees on themselves.

  • phylum

If you risk 1/2R of your capital ….. that becomes the R for the campaign

  • DollarChaser

yeah ok, so i am doing it right. just thinking about it backwards. thanks.

  • Prop Joe

    What is R? I’m a newbie

  • phylum

R=Risk per trade (entry-ISL) … a rule of thumb is to only risk 1% of your capital per trade. Your position size is determined by R, Mole has a calculator http://evilspeculator.com/Rcalc/ also read this http://evilspeculator.com/?page_id=38025
